Welcome to our June blog! Many congratulations to all our wonderful swimmers for getting through their GCSE and A-Level exams! It’s now time to enjoy the summer!
June Highlights | Racing for ducks
June saw the return of our one day long course sprint meet, albeit we had to run it short course due to issues with the boom! The meet was well attended and it was great to see clubs visiting from afar. We saw some pretty fast swims in the pool – it is completely amazing what the thought of winning a duck can do, even for the older swimmers! This was also our first meet as part of the Speedo Sprint Series – swimmers who competed in our June meet and then at our upcoming meet in September have the chance to win a fabulous Speedo bundle of prizes. More details can be found on our website but the prizes are pretty awesome!
Megan Sng | World University Games
Megan Sng joined us back in 2023 as part of our scholarship programme with University of Nottingham. Unfortunately, Megan was involved in a serious accident in October where her spine was fractured – thankfully Megan (who was on a bike) wore a helmet which prevented even more serious damage. Megan thanks the University of Nottingham and her squad mates for their support with her rehabilitation, which has resulted in her being selected for the World University Games which will take place in Berlin. Well done, Megan – it’s great to see you back in the water!
